Rufa Mae Quinto’s lawyer, Atty. Mary Louise Reyes, confirmed initial reports that the comedienne has warrants of arrest.
In a “24 Oras” report last Monday, the lawyer confirmed that Rufa Mae was slapped with cases in a related issue with Dermacare, the same company involved in the arrest of Wais na Misis businesswoman Neri Naig.
In the report, Atty. Reyes confirmed reports that the comedienne was charged with 14 counts of violation of Section 8 of the Securities Regulation Code.
She clarified, though, that her client was not charged for large-scale estafa.
“She will face those charges,” Atty. Reyes assured. Mag-voluntary surrender siya and magpo-post po kami ng bail for that. She’s worried kasi hindi naman totoo ‘yung allegations kasi my client po is just a brand ambassador, a model-endorser.”
“Ni hindi sa kanya nakapagbayad ng downpayment, tapos ‘yung mga tseke po puro tumalbog. Lahat po ‘yan hawak naman po namin ‘yung ebidensya, ipe-present namin sa court,” Atty. Reyes further said.
Atty. Reyes said her client is still thinking of filing a case.
As early as September last year, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) had already released an advisory to Dermacare-Beyond Skin Care Solutions, warning them that the company was not authorized to solicit investments as they were not registered and that they have no license to sell securities.
