Lacson: Pray that the World Will Survive ‘Trump-26’

Senate President Pro Tempore Panfilo “Ping” Lacson on Wednesday urged prayers for the world to withstand what he called “Trump-26,” likening it to the global ordeal of Covid-19.

“Only a few years ago, we outlived the coronavirus, also known as Covid-19. Pray that the world will survive Trump-26,” Lacson said in a post on X.

He lamented that Filipinos continue to suffer from the fallout of the conflict in the Middle East, which he attributed to the “whimsical arrogance” of US President Donald Trump and his allies.

The crisis has disrupted oil supply, driving fuel prices higher. Diesel reportedly reached ₱144 per liter, kerosene ₱168.79, and gasoline ₱111.

Lacson criticized Trump’s recent remarks on Truth Social, where the US leader told countries unable to secure jet fuel from the Strait of Hormuz to “buy from the US or go get your own oil.”

The senator said Trump should be held accountable for actions that, he argued, have worsened the burden not only on the Philippines but on the global community. # (ZIA LUNA)
