It’s not what it seems

Fans of  Marian Rivera lapped it up when the actress recently performed as a judge in a fitness contest sponsored by a canning company.

A male contestants was asked a question in Filipino.  What Marian wasn’t ready for was when the contestant asked the actress for an English translation of the question.

Marian readily obliged and read the English translation in a big cue card.

No sooner, social media bloggers lavished Marian with praises for her English translation.  They made it appear that she made the English translation herself.

So were Marian’s multitude of fans who felt it was really their idol who translated the question.

Tanga lang ang peg?

Why ABS-CBN is still No. 1

Despite the lack of franchise, ABS-CBN continues to be the number one network. For years now, it is second to none.

Why? Let me count the ways.

For one, it still has in its fold the brightest and the biggest artists, unlike other networks which have become a repository of never-beens, has-beens or starlets of microscopic proportion.

While it is bereft of a franchise, it has in its fold the likes of Coco Martin, Vice Ganda, Piolo Pascual, Daniel Padilla, Kathryn Bernardo, Julia Montes, Jericho Rosales, Paulo Avelino, Lovi Poe, Jake Cuenca, Richard Gutierrez, Sam Milby,  Enchong Dee, Regine Velasquez, Ogie Alcasid,  Carlo Aquino, Zanjoe Marudo, Anne Curtis, Martin Nievera, Gary Valenciano, Joshua Garcia, Sharon Cuneta, Sarah Geronimo, Gerald Anderson, Kim Chiu, Enrique Gil and many more. These celebrities were not tempted to join starlet-infested networks despite the lack of franchise of the Kapamilya network.

Spell loyalty?

ABS-CBN still continues to clinch best station awards even without the benefit of a franchise.

The network also churns out teleseryes of world-class calibres.

Even the news department is doing a commendable job of delivering piping hot news. Its provincial coverages during typhoon is a much-welcome news for everyone.

In that breath, ABS-CBN has proven to all that the network will survive the onslaught of challenge, be it man-made or otherwise.
