Iran has submitted its formal reply to a US-backed proposal, rejecting any temporary truce and demanding a permanent settlement.

According to the Iranian news agency IRNA, the response was conveyed through Pakistan after two weeks of high-level deliberations in Tehran.

The Iranian position, structured around ten points, rejects phased arrangements and calls for a comprehensive resolution.

IRNA reported the response was delivered Monday via Pakistan, following extensive review. Tehran emphasized that short-term ceasefires have failed, insisting instead on a binding, permanent end to hostilities.

Mediation continues, with Türkiye, Egypt, and Pakistan engaging both Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and US envoy Steve Witkoff over the weekend. No breakthrough was reported.

Iran’s framework ties the war’s end to broader political and economic guarantees:

Permanent End Across Region: Immediate termination of wars in Gaza, Lebanon, and beyond, with guarantees against renewed escalation.

Sanctions Removal: Full lifting of economic sanctions, linked to post-war recovery.

Hormuz Security: Protocols for secure transit through the Strait of Hormuz, tied to regional security guarantees.

Reconstruction: Comprehensive rebuilding of infrastructure and humanitarian relief.

Nuclear Rights: Recognition of Iran’s right to peaceful uranium enrichment.

Reparations & Security: War reparations and arrangements to limit foreign military presence.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghaei described US proposals as “exaggerated, unusual and illogical.” He stressed Iran’s stance had been conveyed through mediators and rejected negotiations framed as ultimatums.

The timing of Iran’s response followed reported military activity and a failed US airborne operation in Isfahan. IRNA claimed the operation aimed at seizing enriched uranium but “failed miserably.”

Meanwhile, US and Israeli strikes continue to hit civilian infrastructure, while Iran maintains operations against US bases and Israeli targets. # (ZIA LUNA)
