WHILE the deep friendship between former President Rodrigo Duterte and Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) founder Pastor Apollo Quiboloy is truly admirable, such friendship should neither consent nor obstruct the quest for justice, says Senator Risa Hontiveros..

Apparently referring to a failed mission to serve an arrest warrant for Quiboloy, Hontiveros took a swipe at Duterte whom she accused of trying to cover up his fugitive friend.

Hontiveros then urged Duterte that as a former President, he should be helping government authorities in locating Quiboloy who is facing a long list criminal charges.

“Duterte should stop covering up for Quiboloy. He should just help track down where his friend is,” averred the committee on women and children chairperson which has been investigating allegations of sexual abuse on its female church members.

Combined elements of the Philippine National Police – Special Action Force (PNP-SAF) and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) failed to serve the warrant to Quiboloy, who was earlier reported to have eluded the arrest amid a human barricade at the KOJC compound in Barangay Buhangin, Davao City.

“I am again calling on the PNP leadership to ensure that none of our officers are being influenced by Quiboloy or any of his allies, particularly former president Duterte. I trust that more of our men and women in uniform are also doing all they can to bring Quiboloy to justice,” she added.

The female legislator also urged Quiboloy to surrender and face the music – “And for Quiboloy, give up. Cooperate with our law enforcers for once. Deal with the charges and accusations. You have nowhere to hide.”  (ANGEL F. JOSE)
