The Health Alliance for Democracy (HEAD), a coalition of health workers and peace advocates, has denounced what it describes as the ongoing genocide in Palestine, calling for immediate international action to end the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza and the occupied territories.

The group condemned the “renewed Zionist violence” and its devastating toll on civilians, citing figures from July 2025 that report over 61,805 Palestinians and 1,983 Israelis killed since the escalation of the Gaza war.

HEAD emphasized that the majority of Palestinian casualties were women and children, many found dead in residential buildings, and warned that these numbers exclude deaths from preventable diseases, malnutrition, and other war-related consequences.

HEAD’s statement highlighted what it called a “systemic war on healthcare,” referencing World Health Organization data that documents 464 attacks on hospitals and health facilities, 727 health workers killed, and 933 injured. Among the casualties was Dr. Marwan Al-Sultan, a prominent physician killed in July.

The group described dire conditions in Gaza’s remaining hospitals, which face critical shortages of medical supplies, including cancer drugs, orthopedic equipment, and even basic gauze.

Fuel shortages have crippled life-saving equipment like neonatal ventilators, forcing medical teams to sterilize and reuse implants from recovered patients.

HEAD also condemned Israel’s blockade on food and water, describing widespread hunger and malnutrition.

UN sources cited by the group report that most families survive on one sparse meal a day, often consisting of broth, lentils, or a single piece of bread.

The blockade has also devastated Gaza’s water infrastructure, leaving many without access to safe drinking water.

The statement paid tribute to health personnel who died while delivering aid, protecting patients, or sheltering their families. A poignant message found on a hospital whiteboard reads: “Whoever stays until the end will tell the story. We did what we could. Remember us.”

HEAD called on the international community to break its silence and act decisively to stop the violence, ensure the flow of humanitarian aid, and hold accountable those responsible for what it termed “the most brutal crime against humanity.” The group placed blame squarely on the Trump and Netanyahu administrations and condemned Israel’s recent authorization of ground attacks in Gaza.

In closing, HEAD reaffirmed its solidarity with the Palestinian people and urged all pro-Palestine, anti-fascist, and anti-imperialist organizations to strengthen coordination and mobilize for a Free Palestine.

“Stop the genocide in Palestine! Stop the bombing of hospitals! No to food blockade! End US-Zionist Israel Regime! Free Palestine! Stand with Palestine!” (RRN)
