Gadon: Duterte could be impeached from post for ‘mental incapacity’

Presidential Adviser on Poverty Alleviation Secretary Larry Gadon believes that Vice President Sara Duterte could be impeached from her position following her threat against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

In a video message on Saturday, November 23, Gadon said he would recommend to Congress that Duterte be declared “mentally incapacitated” or no longer fit to lead after her statements claiming that she had spoken to an “assassin” to kill Marcos.

Duterte made the statement during a press briefing on Saturday morning after visiting her chief of staff, Zuleika Lopez, who was transferred to St. Luke’s Hospital after being detained at the House of Representatives detention facility.

“Ang duties ng Vice President is to assist the President.

Gadon further explained that there are two ways to remove the Vice President from office by the House of Representatives. Aside from declaring her “incapacitated,” she can also be removed through impeachment.

He added that this is due to VP Sara’s inability to explain how or where the hundreds of millions in “confidential funds” from her office were spent.

Gadon then urged Congress to act swiftly, warning that the situation has already caused confusion and concern among the public. (TCSP)
