Motorists are in for another hit at the pump this week, with oil companies announcing fresh price hikes, blaming surging international costs.
Starting April 29 through May 5, gasoline prices will jump by P1.35 per liter — matching last week’s increase — while diesel will climb by P0.80 per liter. Kerosene users will also see a P0.70 per liter uptick.
Shell Pilipinas, Seaoil, Caltex, and PTT Philippines confirmed the adjustments, while Cleanfuel and Petro Gazz will impose the same hikes, excluding kerosene, which they do not sell.
The price changes will kick in at 6:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 29, except for Cleanfuel, which will adjust its rates at 4:01 p.m.
This is the second straight week of fuel price increases.
According to the Department of Energy (DOE), the latest round of hikes is mainly fueled by supply fears after the United States imposed new sanctions on Iran’s oil shipping network, squeezing global supply and driving prices up.
As of April 21, before last week’s hike kicked in, retail pump prices in Metro Manila averaged P67.49 for RON97/100 gasoline, P54.80 for RON95, P53.30 for RON91, P50.20 for diesel, P63.28 for Diesel Plus, and P68.07 for kerosene.
These figures have yet to account for last week’s price increases, as the DOE has not released updated data as of press time.
With the latest increases, gasoline prices will have risen by P3.60 per liter and diesel by P3.65 per liter since the start of 2025, while kerosene will have posted a net drop of P1.10 per liter over the same period. (TCSP)
