Motorists can expect slight relief in fuel prices this week, as major oil companies announced a rollback just in time for Valentine’s Day.
For the period February 11 to 17, 2025, gasoline prices will see a slight reduction of P0.10 per liter. Similarly, diesel prices will also drop by P0.10 per liter. Additionally, kerosene prices will experience a more significant rollback of P0.30 per liter.
Shell Pilipinas, Seaoil, CleanFuel, Caltex, and several other oil companies have confirmed these price changes.
Last week, retailers increased gasoline prices by P0.70 per liter, while reducing diesel prices by P1.15 per liter and kerosene prices by P0.90 per liter.
The Department of Energy (DOE) said last Friday, February 07, that rising oil demand from China and India, along with the impact of sweeping tariffs imposed by former US President Donald Trump on certain countries, influenced the recent adjustments in pump prices.
Earlier, DOE Oil Industry Management Bureau Assistant Director Rodela Romero said that Saudi Aramco, Saudi Arabia’s national oil company, plans to increase oil prices for Asian markets, citing heightened demand from China and India as a key factor.
Once these changes are implemented, gasoline and diesel prices will reflect a cumulative increase of P3.25 per liter and P3.55 per liter, respectively, since the start of 2025. In contrast, kerosene prices will show a net rise of P2.60 per liter over the same period. (TCSP)
