Enchong Dee is not about to shirk away from the challenge of doing a BL (Boys’ Love) project.
Enchong revealed he has already thought of taking on Boys’ Love (BL) roles long before the hit BL movie “Call Me By Your Name” was released in 2017.
Enchong revealed that he broached his idea to Kriz Gazmen, head of Star Cinema, but it fell on deaf ears.
“Actually, prior to all of these BLs, lumapit na ko kay Kriz Gazmen, nilatag ko na sa kaniya ‘yan,” he said.
But nothing solid came out of it which made him felt he was “just a small voice back then.”
“Dapat pala hindi ko lang siya inilapit sa isang tao, dapat mas nilapit ko sa mas marami, kasi after that, Thai BL took over,” he said in a recent interview which clearly showed his regret.
Had he been given the greenlight, Enchong feels the country could have been a pioneer in this genre.
“Alam mo ‘yon, sayang, dapat tayo na nauna don. Mas magaling pa tayo gumawa,” he said.
When queried about the actor he could star in a BL project, Enchong instantly mouthed the name of Jericho Rosales.
“Baka pwede si kuya Echo kasi kausap ko siya noong isang party, tapos ang dami niyang sinasabi sa akin. Napanood niya kasi ‘yung Elise, then na-appreciate niya ang performance ko,” he said.
He also rattled off the names of Dingdong Dantes, Piolo Pascual, and Alden Richards, saying that all these brilliant actors.”
All is not lost for Enchong as he is making his fingers crossed that he will be able to do a BL project in the future.
