Edvic Yap Resigns Amid Flood Control Probe

Rep. Edvic Yap of ACT-CIS Partylist has resigned from the House of Representatives, with the plenary informed just before adjournment on Wednesday, January 4.

He has yet to issue a statement on his departure, ending a tenure that began in 2022.

Yap is among lawmakers under investigation for alleged ties to anomalous flood control projects.

Ombudsman Boying Remulla identified him as one of three linked to the unfinished ₱275.9-million La Union flood control project, contracted to Silverwolves Construction Corp., which faces malversation and graft complaints.

His brother, Rep. Eric Yap of Benguet, reportedly holds an indirect stake in Silverwolves, a firm that handled over ₱16 billion in transactions between 2022 and 2024, mostly for flood control works.

The Anti-Money Laundering Council also found that Edvic Yap’s account received about ₱70 million from contractor-couple Sarah and Curlee Discaya.

In December, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. confirmed that the Yap brothers’ personal accounts were included in the freeze order covering assets of Silverwolves Construction Corp. and Sky Yard Aviation Corp. (ZIA LUNA)
