EVEN after the Ombudsman issued an order suspending the controversial Bamban Mayor Alice Guo for six months, the Office of the Solicitor General said that the issue should not end with just a slap on the wrist.

According to Solicitor General Menardo Guevarra, the embattled mayor has yet seen the worst even as he hinted at pushing the filing of a quo warranto petition against Guo whom he said has been providing conflicting statements over her real identity.

“You have listened to the Senate hearings and it seems to be that there is a lot of conflicting information, if not disinformation,” Guevarra said.

“We need to be able to discern what evidence is competent enough, that it will hold before the court, and citizenship…it is the most important and crucial question,” he added.

Guevarra admits, they’re closely scrutinizing Guo’s birth certificate, the late registration of her birth, nationality of her parents, among others which could “have bearing on her citizenship, so that is what we are trying to find out.”

“We do not want to tell everyone of our findings until we are able to gather all the necessary information. We do not want to make conclusions based on incomplete data,” averred

Guevarra who hinted at the need to come up with conclusive evidence which they intend to report to the President.

Earlier today, the Office of the Ombudsman suspended Guo and two other Bamban local officials over their alleged failure to address POGO-linked criminal activities such as human trafficking and online scams within their jurisdiction.

This development came after the Interior and Local Government Department filed graft complaints against Guo over her alleged POGO-links.

Amid discrepancies in Guo’s birth records, the embattled mayor stood firm she was born out of wedlock after her father Chinese national Angelito Guo impregnated their maid while living in Valenzuela City. (ANGEL F. JOSE)
