Actor Dominic Roque recently joined Sharon Cuneta, former senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan, Bea Alonzo  and Sarah Lahbati’s mom who filed a cyber libel case against veteran columnist and online host
Cristy Fermin.

Dominic filed  the case before the Office of the City Prosecutor of Pasig City on Friday, May 31 as reported by GMA entertainment news anchor Nelson Canlas.

“Nagsampa ng cyber libel case ang aktor na si Dominic Roque laban kay Cristy Fermin sa Office of the City Prosecutor ng Pasig City,” Nelson said in his Instagram post.

“Ang ilang malicious statements and innuendos na sinabi ni Fermin sa kanyang YouTube channel na “Showbiz Now Na” ang naging basehan ng aktor para magsampa ng kaso,” he added.

Recall that in February, Dominic’s legal team released an official statement to counter Cristy’s claim in her online show as they are
“malicious and defamatory public statements.”

“In her vlog, Ms. Fermin made malicious defamatory innuendos. These innuendoes alluded that Mr. Dominic Roque has a benefactor who is a politician and that this politician is the owner of the condominium unit where he currently resides,” the statement initially read.

“The malicious and baseless innuendos were quickly picked up by social media netizens, several of whom even uploaded a photo of Dapitan City Mayor Bullet Jalosjos, without his knowledge and consent. There is absolutely no truth to these malicious innuendos,” the statement further read.

“In a separate vlog, Ms. Fermin made a malicious defamatory statement that former Congressman Bong Suntay is one of the suspected benefactors of Mr. Dominic Roque. By making such a statement, Ms. Fermin made the innuendo that unreasonably casts doubt on the sexuality of former Congressman Bong Suntay,” the statement added.

Dominic’s  legal team claimed that Cristy “acted outside the bounds of protected free speech.” (NIGEL CHAVEZ DE ESTRADA)
