Amid the improving employment situation, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) underscored the importance of collaboration with the private sector in advancing the government’s job generation agenda.
Among these initiatives is the recently launched Trabaho Para sa Bayan: Project J.O.B.S (Job Opportunities Building Skills) among the Private Sector Advisory Council, SM Supermalls, and JobStreet by Seek, according to the DOLE Secretary.
The project aims to facilitate the ‘meeting’ of employers and job seekers through a series of on-site job fairs at SM Malls nationwide and free access to job postings through JobStreet by SEEK to boost digital job matching.
In his message during the Commitment Signing in Pasay City, DOLE Secretary Bienvenido E. Laguesma noted that the convergence, aimed at providing employment opportunities and training programs, will align the skills of the Filipino workforce with industry demands.
The Labor Chief also acknowledged the private sector’s efforts in connecting job seekers with employers and urged collaboration to empower the labor force through employment and further reduce unemployment.
Undersecretary Carmela I. Torres, meanwhile, during the panel discussion emphasized the Department’s diverse programs, including the Special Program for Employment of Students, JobStart Philippines, Government Internship Program, and the Adjustment Measures Program, to improve workforce employability and broaden access to opportunities, these priorities are aligned with the Philippine Labor and Employment Plan 2023-2028 and the Philippine Development Plan 2023-2028.
The DOLE official also emphasized the pivotal role of the Public Employment Service Offices in providing job search assistance and career counseling; leveraging digital platforms, such as the PhilJobNet, to maximize job matching and facilitate the recruitment process; and the Career Development Support Program aimed at providing labor market information and career guidance to address job-skills mismatch.
