NOW it can be told – the controversial Bamban Mayor Alice Guo will be facing criminal charges, but as to what cases remain on hold until after a inter-agency-agency council meets to determine how many and what exactly would be filed against her.

According to Winston John Casio in his capacity as the designated spokesperson of the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC), Guo will face criminal charges with regards to the alleged illegal activities in a compound adjacent Bamban municipal hall where she holds office on a daily basis until she was preventively suspended by the Office of the Ombudsman.

Casio said that PAOCC, the Department of Justice, the Office of the Solicitor General, and the Philippine National Police are set to convene anew to finalize the charges to be filed.

When sought to elaborate, Casio described the charges as “serious and non-bailable.”

Aside from Guo, “a good number of people involved in the offshore gaming hub in Bamban” would also be facing almost the same charges that the mayor will have to deal with.

“Criminal charges will be filed against a good number of people on Friday with regards to the Bamban operation,” Casio told reporters in a news forum in Quezon City.

This comes as the Senate is still investigating Guo’s alleged involvement with Hongsheng Gaming Inc. and Zun Yuan Technology Inc, POGO hubs which were raided by police and military in February last year and again last March for alleged human trafficking and serious illegal detention at the Baofu Land Development Inc. compound.

Pressed to elaborate further, Casio hinted at documents which had Guo’s name and signature – most of which directly dragged into the illegal operation.

“We have strong evidence that will support the criminal allegations against Mayor Alice Guo and a good number of people in the Bamban operations,” Casio added.

Guo, who remains suspended, earlier sent a fleet of lawyers to the Office of the Ombudsman to file a motion asking that the six-month preventive suspension (which took effect on May 31) against the controversial mayor be lifted.

On top of her supposed links to illegal POGO operations, several other government agencies, as well as the Senate, is looking into other issues surrounding her identity and suspicion of being a Chinese spy with a marching order to infiltrate Philippine politics. (ANGEL F. JOSE)
