Bayan Muna urges new ICC suspects to come clean on Duterte’s ‘drug war’

Bayan Muna Chairman Neri Colmenares today called on the newly identified suspects in the International Criminal Court (ICC) case against former President Rodrigo Duterte’s so-called “war on drugs” to tell all and come clean in order to potentially lighten their sentences.

“Now is the time for these officials to reveal the truth about the Duterte administration’s bloody campaign,” Colmenares stated. “By cooperating with the ICC and providing crucial information, they not only have the opportunity to clear their consciences but also to potentially reduce their culpability in the eyes of the court.”

The statement comes in light of recent reports that Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa and four other former high-ranking police officials have been named as suspects in the ICC’s ongoing investigation into crimes against humanity allegedly committed during Duterte’s tenure.

“The Filipino people deserve to know the full extent of the atrocities committed under the guise of a ‘war on drugs,'” Colmenares added. “These officials have a moral and legal obligation to come forward with the truth, not just for their own sakes, but for the thousands of victims and their families who continue to seek justice.”

Colmenares emphasized that cooperation with the ICC could be a crucial step towards accountability and healing for the nation. “By telling all, these suspects can contribute to ending the impunity that has long plagued our country and help ensure that such human rights violations never happen again,” he concluded.
