Bayan Muna Executive Vice President Carlos Isagani Zarate called on the Marcos administration to guarantee that Apollo Quiboloy, recently arrested, does not receive VIP treatment and is held accountable for his alleged crimes. Zarate emphasized the need for justice to prevail, ensuring that Quiboloy is not used as a political trophy at the victims’ expense.
“The Marcos government must ensure that Quiboloy will not be given VIP status and is made accountable to the fullest for his alleged crimes,” Zarate stated. “He should not be made a political trophy at the expense of the interest of the victims.”
Zarate also urged the government to pursue others who may have conspired with Quiboloy in committing abuses, insisting that accountability should not stop with one individual. “The government should not stop with Quiboloy but should also run after the others who conspired with him in committing abuses with impunity,” he added.
Furthermore, Zarate expressed concern over the excessive force and overreach by the police during the implementation of Quiboloy’s arrest warrant. He warned that such actions could set a dangerous precedent against perceived critics of the current administration. “The police’s excessive force and overreach in the supposed implementation of the arrest warrant should be investigated as it may be used as a dangerous precedent against perceived critics of the present administration,” Zarate concluded.
Bayan Muna continues to stand for justice and accountability, urging the government to act in the interest of the Filipino people.#
