House Deputy Minority Leader and ACT Teachers Partylist Rep. France Castro today welcomed the announcement of Kilusang Mayo Uno (KMU) Secretary General Jerome Adonis to run for senator in the upcoming 2025 elections.

“As a fellow Makabayan senatorial candidate, Jerome is indeed a welcome addition to our slate and would be a staunch voice of workers in the elections,” Rep. Castro stated. “His extensive experience as a labor leader and his deep understanding of workers’ issues make him an excellent candidate to represent the interests of the Filipino working class in the Senate.”

Rep. Castro emphasized the importance of having genuine representatives of marginalized sectors in the upper chamber of Congress. “For too long, the Senate has been dominated by traditional politicians who are disconnected from the struggles of ordinary Filipinos. Jerome Adonis’ candidacy offers a chance to bring the voice of workers directly into the halls of power.”

The ACT Teachers representative also highlighted the significance of Adonis’ platform, which focuses on living wages, workers’ rights, and national industrialization. “These are crucial issues that need to be addressed if we are to achieve genuine progress and development for our country. Jerome’s commitment to these causes is exactly what we need in the Senate,” Castro added.

Rep. Castro called on all progressive and democratic forces to rally behind Adonis’ candidacy. “We must unite to ensure that the voice of workers and the marginalized sectors will be heard in the 2025 elections. Jerome Adonis’ senatorial bid represents an opportunity to advance the interests of the Filipino people in the legislative arena.”

“As we face the challenges ahead, it is crucial to have senators who will champion the rights of workers, farmers, and other marginalized sectors. Jerome Adonis’ candidacy is a step in the right direction, and we fully support his decision to run for the Senate,” Rep. Castro concluded.
