MarSU 1st Anniversary with high hopes in serving the Island better

Boac, Marinduque – The lone state university in the heart of Philippine archipelago, Marinduque State University (MarSU) marks its first anniversary with the theme “Marinduque State University: Shaping a Global Future Across Cultural Diversity.”

The MarSU 1st anniversary kicks off with a motorcade from its main campus in Boac to the heritage town of Boac. Then a commemorative program ensues with the guests from the Department of Tourism (DOT), regional director Hon. Roberto Alabado III giving the inspirational message and undersecretary Hon. Ferdinand Cañete-Jumapao serving as keynote speaker.

The messages of support are from the lone district congressional office, provincial government and in behalf of Sangguniang Panlalawigan. Likewise, the local chief executives from Gasan, Buenavista, Torrijos, Sta Cruz, Mogpog and Boac also contribute a great deal to an eco-agri/tourism island province.

By the afternoon, there would be a press conference with DOT, Mimaropa regional office, Congressional District Office, PGM, and the respective municipal governments of Marinduque.

The historic conversion from state college to a university took place in July 3, 2025. Based on the official student publication of MarSU, the key performance indicators within the last 12 months are the following: 100% academic programs with Certificate of Program Compliance, ranked 9th in the Best Schools in the Philippines in licensure examination for teacher education (secondary), recognized by the Department of Budget Management (DBM) Mimaropa as the SUC with the highest budget  utilization rate, received an Unmodified Opinion from the Commission on Audit (COA), honored with the 1st EQUATE Award for excellence in Teacher Education.

Moreover, University President Prof. Dr. Diosdado P. Zulueta and his dedication has earned him multiple leadership roles and recognitions, such as PASUC National Auditor, PHILARM President, a recipient of the 2025 Gawad Marinduque for Education, 1st Manuel T. Corpuz Outstanding Quality Champion, and DENR GAD Champion. (RANDY NOBLEZA)
