Former presidential spokesman Harry Roque has expressed confidence that the Philippine government will not be able to arrest him as he fights the legal basis of his asylum status in the Netherlands.
Roque, an expert in international law, claims his background gives him an advantage over the government’s efforts to detain him.
The Department of Justice (DOJ) has announced plans to request a red notice from Interpol to facilitate his capture. Roque dismissed this move, saying it is a waste of time.
“Well alam niyo kasi yung issue of Deportation and Asylum is Govern by international law, which I said is my Home Court because I taught International law for 20 years hindi lang sa Pilipinas pati sa Singapore and sa America and I exactly know what to do and I think kung nag kokonsulta sila International Law experts ang masasabi ko lang don’t waste your time,” Roque said in an interview on One PH’s Sa Totoo Lang.
He argued that he is protected as an asylum seeker and stated that the charges against him, related to human trafficking in connection with illegal POGO operations, are baseless.
“Sino ba nagsabing di ko hinaharap? Noong makalawa lamang ako po’y nag execute na ng motion for reconsideration na ni-notaryo rito ng Philippine Consulate. kalokohan yung mga nagsasabing di ko hinaharap because I’m availing all legal remedies sa isang resolusyong mga piskalya na wala po talagang basehan. Kalokohan na tinatakbuhan ko yan,” Roque explained. (ZIA LUNA)
