No one is too big to be toppled.
Independent candidate and incumbent city councilor Mark Anthony Santos proved this by garnering 115,983 votes, defeating Senator Cynthia Villar in the congressional elections for Las Piñas City.
Santos’ victory marks the end of over three decades of the Villar family’s dominance as the city’s representative in Congress.
The newly elected congressman expressed deep gratitude for the trust given to him by the people of Las Piñas.
“Ang tagumpay na ito ay hindi lamang tagumpay ng isang tao, kundi tagumpay ng bawat Las Piñero na naniniwalang posible ang tunay na pagbabago kung may Malasakit at Serbisyo,” Santos said in a Facebook post on Tuesday.
“Maasahan ninyong mananatiling matatag ang aming paninindigan, para sa bayan at sa mamamayan. Sa pagkakapit-bisig, sama-sama tayong uusad, Las Piñas!” he added. (ZIA LUNA)
