The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) announced an increase in the Passenger Service Charge (PSC), commonly known as the terminal fee, for tickets bought from April 21 onwards.
In a memorandum dated April 14, CAAP said passengers departing from international airports will be charged ₱350, while those flying out of principal class 1 airports will pay ₱300. The fee is set at ₱200 for principal class 2 airports, and ₱100 for community airports.
On the other hand, those passengers who have international flights will pay P900 from the current P784.
The fee applies to all passengers, with the exception of children under two years old, transit passengers, overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) leaving the country, and individuals who were denied entry.
The directive includes all airports managed by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), such as those in Laoag, Vigan, Tuguegarao, Basco, Cagayan, Romblon, Puerto Princesa, Busuanga, Naga, Legazpi, Masbate, Iloilo, Kalibo, Dumaguete, Siquijor, Tacloban, Catarman, Calbayog, Zamboanga, Pagadian, Camiguin, and General Santos.
Privately-managed airports like Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), Mactan-Cebu International Airport, Clark International Airport, and Caticlan Airport are excluded from the increased fees specified in the circular.
“Over the years, inflation and rising operational costs have placed pressure on the aviation sector,” CAAP said in a Facebook post.
“This long-overdue update allows CAAP to continue operating airports efficiently, safely, and in line with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards,” it added.
In addition to terminal fees, CAAP has introduced new landing and take-off charges, which are determined by the aircraft’s maximum take-off weight (MTOW).
For international flights, the base fee is set at $260 for aircraft with a maximum take-off weight of up to 50,000 kilograms.
For domestic flights, the minimum charge is ₱54 per 500 kilograms for aircraft within the same weight category. (TCSP)
