Jodi Sta. Maria bats for the responsible use of social media.
This came about as she was asked about her take on fake news as her role in the Regal Entertainment movie, Untold, is about a fake news peddler.
“It’s really about everyone’s social responsibility. Ang tao ay hindi nabubuhay para sa sarili lamang. Lahat tayo, in a way, ay connected sa isa’t isa,” she initially said
“Now, we live in a digital world. Everything is just being put out there. As a human being, ako personally, pipiliin ko na…’Yung mga platforms powerless sila. It is us who give platforms power.
‘Now, the question is, paano mo gagamitin ‘yung platform na ‘yon. Will you use it for good or will you use it to create chaos,” she explained.
In the end, Jodi wants the moviegoers to learn how to use social media platforms responsibly.
“Ang gusto ko lang na takeaway ng mga tao dito is ‘yung pagkakaroon ng social responsibility,” she said.
Untold, showing on April 30, also features Juan Karlos, Joem Bascon and Gloria Diaz. It’s directed by Derick Cabrido who previously begged Mallari and Clarita. (NIGEL CHAVEZ DE ESTRADA)
