Teacher solons welcome NBI’s recommendation to file charges against VP Sara Duterte

House Deputy Minority Leader France Castro and former ACT Teachers Representative Antonio Tinio expressed their approval of the National Bureau of Investigation’s recommendation to file charges of inciting to sedition and grave threats against Vice President Sara Duterte for her alleged threats against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

“Dapat naman talagang mapanagot si VP Sara sa ginawa niyang pagbabanta at sana ay hindi matulad sa parehong kaso na sinampa ko sa kanyang ama,” Castro stated, referring to previous grave threats charges filed against former President Rodrigo Duterte.

“These recommended charges are just the tip of the iceberg. The Vice President must be held accountable not only for her threats but more importantly for the misuse of confidential funds,” Tinio emphasized.

Both legislators stressed that while the NBI’s recommendation is a positive development, the immediate commencement of impeachment proceedings against VP Duterte should remain the priority.

“Aside from these charges, what we and the people are waiting for is the start of the impeachment trial. Sana ay kagyat na simulan ito at huwag nang patagalin pa ang pagpapanagot kay VP Duterte sa paglustay sa pera ng taumbayan,” Castro added.

The NBI, through Director Santiago, announced: “We have finally recommended the filing of inciting to sedition and grave threat against the Vice President.”

“This development should show that those in power should be set at a higher standard of behavior and act as responsible public officials. However, we must ensure that, unlike previous cases against the Dutertes, these charges must actually lead to accountability,” Tinio concluded. #
