Marcos says SWS ratings boost government morale, admin candidates

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said the latest approval ratings from the Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey significantly boosted the government’s morale and could positively impact its candidates in the upcoming May elections.

Marcos made the remarks following the release of the latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey, which revealed that 59 percent of adult Filipinos were satisfied with his performance.

In his recent media interview, Marcos said the latest survey validates his administration’s efforts to improve its job performance.

“Of course, it’s always good to see that what we are doing is reaching most – the majority of people – and that they feel the impact of our work,” Marcos said in response to the survey.

Marcos expressed confidence that the survey results, conducted in December 2024, would influence Filipino voters to back administration candidates in the May midterm elections.

“Siguro, I’m sure it has an effect. Makakatulong yun ,” he said.

He also described the findings as “very encouraging,” adding that it strengthened the administration’s resolve to improve further. “Of course, it strengthens our resolve to enhance and refine our work,” he said.

The President also pointed to the influx of newly trained graduates entering government service as a key factor in sustaining the administration’s momentum.

Marcos said the graduates joining the government are those people they “truly need.”

“I’m sure this inspires them, as well as all of us public servants, to continue doing the best we can for our people,” he said.

A Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey conducted in December 2024 revealed that the current administration holds a net satisfaction rating of “good” +36 (59% satisfied minus 23% dissatisfied).

This rating remains unchanged from September 2024 but marks a decline from the “good” +40 recorded in June 2024, according to SWS.

Additionally, 17% of respondents were neutral, while 23% expressed dissatisfaction with the national government’s overall performance.

The non-commissioned survey, conducted from December 12 to 18, 2024, involved face-to-face interviews with 2,160 adults across the country—1,080 in Balance Luzon and 360 each in Metro Manila, the Visayas, and Mindanao.

SWS noted that the survey had a sampling error margin of ±2% for national results, ±3% for Balance Luzon, and ±5% for Metro Manila, the Visayas, and Mindanao. (TCSP)
