‘First Chinese Mayor’ goes to social media, shows pix with Marcos

APPALLED by the statement of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. who denied knowing her, embattled Bamban Mayor Alice Guo went to the social media and posted pictures as a reminder of precious moments they shared.

The photos, which have since gone viral, included one during the 2022 presidential campaign trail and another at the New Clark City in Pampanga when the President inspected the airport inside the former US facility, sometime in February this year.

However, the President insisted that the viral campaign selfie photos of himself with Mayor Guo neither make them “close” nor acquainted with each other, adding that those pictures “prove nothing.”

“You know many how many pictures I take during a campaign? Siguro isang libo isang araw. Lahat naman ng humihingi ng selfie hindi ko hinihindian,” Marcos was quoted as saying in a televised news.

Aside from photos of herself and Marcos, Guo also posted a picture with House Speaker Martin Romualdez, in what many consider as an effort to counter mounting suspicions about her true identity and allegations that she was a Chinese spy who had infiltrated Philippine politics.

Controversial as she has become, Guo is facing multiple investigations linking her to the operation of illegal POGO hubs adjacent the Bamban municipal hall where she holds office, questionable citizenship, and suspicion of being a Chinese spy.

Marcos has denied knowing the Bamban mayor, so does Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro who once served as congressman representing the province at the House of Representative. (ANGEL F. JOSE)
