President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has appointed Rear Admiral Jose Ma. Ambrosio Ezpeleta as the new chief of the Philippine Navy.
Ezpeleta takes over from Vice Admiral Toribio Adaci Jr., who completed his two-year term on Friday.
The President presided over the Change of Command and Retirement Ceremony for Adaci at the Philippine Navy Headquarters in Manila.
A graduate of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) “Sambisig” Class of 1991, Ezpeleta boasts an impressive career, having previously served as the 65th Chief of Naval Staff and as the Commander of Naval Forces Southern Luzon.
Adaci, who became the 40th Flag Officer-in-Command of the Philippine Navy in 2022, emphasized the importance of protecting the nation’s sovereignty and maritime interests during his tenure.
He also concentrated on maintaining progress under the Philippine Navy Sail Plan 2028, which includes enhancing training, optimizing organizational structure, advancing base development, and fostering a self-reliant defense strategy.
Adaci, a member of the PMA ‘Makatao’ Class of 1989, has nearly 40 years of dedicated military service, having held various roles within the Armed Forces of the Philippines, including Commander of the Naval Forces of Western Mindanao and several key positions within the Navy, such as Commander of Naval Installation Command and Fleet Inspector General.
