BUSTED former Bamban Mayor Alice Guo is headed for something new, a living condition she never experienced all throughout her 33 years of existence, according to the Philippine National Police (PNP).
According to PNP spokesperson Col. Jean Fajardo, Guo would be treated just like any other detainee – no cellphone, no AirPods, no special treatment, as she would be confined in an ordinary detention room with one bed, a comfort room, and an electric fan.
Guo, who was arrested in Tangerang City in Indonesia and brought home last night via private jet via Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) weeks after she left the country without going through immigration checks, was transferred to Camp Crame at 3:06 a.m. after undergoing medical examination and booking proceedings shortly after her arrival in a private hangar in Pasay City.
“She will be treated as an ordinary detainee. No special treatment. Iniisa-isa yung gamit niya. No cell phone, no AirPods. Bawal yun sa facility,” the PNP mouthpiece said.
“Kung ano po yung proseso na ginawa natin sa ordinaryong citizen, if they are just referring po sa number ng police personnel na atin pong dineploy, well narinig po natin galing sa bibig po ni dating mayor na may death threat po siya.”
Guo is also not allowed to use her phone and any gadget inside the custodial facility as it will be turned over to her relatives.
“Tinanong po siya nung doctors natin, kung meron ba siyang nararamdaman at kung okay ba ang pakiramdam niya. Ang kanyang blood pressure po at oxygen level ay nasa normal na level po”, Fajardo told reporters when asked about the former mayor’s health condition.
Interestingly, her arrest warrant was read only after she boarded the private jet. It was only then that she was handcuffed, as per admission of Interior and Local Government Sec. Benhur Abalos who accompanied her.
Her mugshot was also taken, the PNP spokesperson added.
Guo is expected to post bail for the graft and corruption charges filed against her before a Capas, Tarlac court. She is also facing human trafficking, tax evasion, and money laundering cases, all related to illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operations (POGO) in Tarlac.
Fajardo said that Guo shall remain inside Camp Crame until after the former mayor’s legal team post bail in Tarlac where graft charges were filed.
The Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission earlier said Guo fled to Singapore and then Indonesia after allegedly receiving death threats from the Chinese mafia.
PAOCC executive director Usec. Gilbert Cruz said Southeast Asia was ideal for Guo’s escape since she did not need a visa to go there. (ANGEL F. JOSE)
