President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said on Wednesday, September 4, that fugitive Pastor Apollo Quiboloy’s purported Philippine government demands that he not be extradited to the US were “immaterial” since the situation was no longer under Executive Department control.
This, as Quiboloy’s camp again asked Marcos and other law enforcement agencies an assurance that he would not be “rendered” to the US, where he faces charges of child sex trafficking, fraud and coercion, and bulk cash smuggling.
In an interview, Marcos said that the camp of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) does not understand the arrest process for Quiboloy.
“Parang hindi niya yata masyadong naintindihan ang proseso ng pag — pagka nag-issue ang korte ng bench warrant or warrant for arrest, it is out of our hands already. It is in the court’s hands,” Marcos said.
“Kailangan ang kausap niya ang korte. Dahil ang executive, ang papel lang namin ngayon ay arestuhin siya. So, all of these conditions that he’s putting in are immaterial,” he added.
A federal grand jury in the US District Court for the Central District of California indicted Quiboloy for conspiracy to engage in sex trafficking by force, fraud, and coercion and sex trafficking of children, as well as bulk cash smuggling.
On September 4, police continued searching for Quiboloy and his co-accused as the arrest warrant enters its 12th day.
The Philippine National Police suspect Quiboloy is in Davao City’s Kingdom of Jesus Christ property.
Earlier, Justice Undersecretary Raul Vasquez said the Philippines could not guarantee Quiboloy would not be turned over to the US If he reappeared.
Vasquez highlighted that the country’s judicial system upholds justice and the administration’s commitment to equal treatment under the law. (TCSP)
