BI: Alice Guo in Jakarta, Indonesia

Former Bamban mayor Alice Guo was in Jakarta, Indonesia as of Monday (August 26) evening, Bureau of Immigration (BI) Commissioner Norman Tansingco said.

Tansingco made the revelation during the hearing of the Senate subcommittee on justice and human rights regarding Guo’s escape from Philippine jurisdiction on Tuesday, August 27.

“Based on the latest report sa akin kagabi, si Alice Guo is in Jakarta,” Tansingco told lawmakers after sub-panel chairperson Sen. Risa Hontiveros asked him about the dismissed Bamban mayor’s whereabouts.

Tansingco added that Wesley Guo, the dismissed mayor’s brother, departed Batam, Indonesia, on August 20 by ferry and then flew to Hong Kong.

Tansingo added they had already written to the Hong Kong immigration requesting confirmation of Wesley’s arrival in Hong Kong. However, he said BI already has the confirmation that Wesley left Singapore.

“We’re still waiting for confirmation of his arrival in Hong Kong,” the BI Chief said.

If confirmed, this information would indicate that the Guo siblings are on the move once more.

Over the weekend, PAOCC spokesperson Winston Casio indicated that Guo appeared to be attempting to enter Southeast Asia’s Golden Triangle region. This area, located at the intersection of Laos, Thailand, and Myanmar along the Mekong River, is known for its strategic importance.

Casio pointed out that the Guo family has business and gambling interests in Cambodia, making it “the safest bet” for the dismissed mayor’s final destination. Although Cambodia is not part of the Golden Triangle, it shares borders with Thailand to the northwest and Laos to the north and has a coastline along the Gulf of Thailand. (TCSP)
