Fugitive Guo escaped via chartered flight?

SENATOR Raffy Tulfo has all the reason to believe that fugitive Bamban Mayor Alice Guo has long left the country, in view of what he claimed seemed a flawed system which bestows hassle-less arrival and departure of foreign mafia masquerading as VIPs.

Amid suspicion that Guo has gone elsewhere, Tulfo likewise cited the need to create a singular processing center for passengers – including undesirable aliens – of chartered flights being used by the so-called VIPs.

The senator particularly expressed apprehension over what looks more like an “express lane” for chartered flight passengers whose baggage – according to him – are not even subjected to the usual screening.

“Kung mga taong lalabas ng bansa natin using chartered planes gusto ko dumaan sila sa butas ng karayom kasi dyan nakakatakas po ang mga fugitives. How would we know kung nakatakas na siya [Alice Guo]. I heard nakatakas siya using that system,” an obviously pissed off Tulfo lamented.

Meanwhile, the Bureau of Customs confirmed that baggage of passengers on board chartered planes are not subjected to an X-ray check.

“Akalain mo itong mga chartered airlines sakay itong mga passengers kung saang bansa, nakakalibre sila, hindi sila naiinspeksyon,” he further said.

In response, Manila International Airport Authority general Manager Eric Castro however insisted that chartered flights are usually booked by government officials. (ANGEL F. JOSE)
