Senate nearly cited Blubbering Harry in contempt

HAD he not heeded the advice of Senator Sherwin Gatchalian, former Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque would have found himself spending the night in solitude inside the Senate holding facility.

This comes as Roque was threatened to be cited in contempt after engaging in a clash against Sen. Risa Hontiveros during a hearing conducted by the Senate committee on women, chaired by no less than Hontiveros herself.

“Atty. Roque, please be reminded to respect the chairperson,” Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian said during the hearing of the Senate Committee on Women, for which the former Palace mouthpiece replied: “I’m very respectful.”

Roque’s answer further infuriated Gatchalian to who told him : “Panong respectful e nagsasalita siya sinasabayan mo siya?”

It was only then that Roque simmered down – and apologized.

“One more and I will cite you in contempt; and if you disrespect the chairperson (Hontiveros), we’ll be compelled to cite you in contempt,” an obviously pissed off Gatchalian told Roque.

“Huwag mo namang sabayan siya, nagsasalita siya. Siya ang chairperson.” (ANGEL F. JOSE)
