LTO appeasing motorists, Licenses via door-to-door

IN an apparent bid to rebrand its agency after years of snag, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) thought of embracing gimmickry through an online “promo” offering motorists who have yet to get their drivers’ licenses an option embarking on a door-to-door delivery of their long overdue plastic cards.

In a news dispatch released by its information office, LTO chief Vigor Mendoza urged motorists who have not claimed their plastic-printed driver’s license to make use of the “Aksyon on the Spot 09292920865” system for faster printing.

According to Mendoza, drivers may scan or take a photo of their paper-printed driver’s license and send it to the Viber platform.

“We will immediately print their driver’s license in the Central Office (in Quezon City) and we will also give them the option if they want their plastic-printed driver’s license through our accredited courier service,” Mendoza averred.

Citing  consolidated LTO data, Mendoza said that five percent of those affected by the backlog have yet to claim their plastic license cards.

“Humigit kumulang mga 9.7 million cards, na-bid out na po yan ng DOTr (Department of Transportation) at LTO. So, there’s no reason why we will not have enough cards for the entire year,” Mendoza quipped.(ANGEL F. JOSE)
