Mayor Karla Estrada in 2025?

In a span of months, TV host Karla Estrada has changed her mind twice on two issues: joining the political fray and selling their family home.

Just last May, Karla debunked talks she was in any way interested to run again for an elective post in the 2025 mid-term elections.

It will be remembered that being the third nominee in the Tingog party list, Karla blew her chance to sit in Congress.

Instead, the TV host was assigned to the social services and promotions department of the party list led by Yedda Romualdez.

Things, however, have now taken a surprising twist.

Reportedly, Karla is eyeing the mayoral post in Sta. Rita, a town in Samar. In fact, she already had a house built there.

I remember having watched Karla featured on a show years ago where she proudly talked about her sprawling properties–as far as eyes can see–in Samar.

They turned out to be “pamana.”

This early, Karla is showing signs of mayoral victory–many thanks to her son Daniel Padilla’s popularity.

Running a local government unit though entails more than just serving as a go-between two warring parties as she does on TV5’s Face to Face.

Sitting as the town’s mother is way above her showbiz moniker Queen Mother, but I bet Karla is privy to this after all.

Hosting a daily show may be right up Karla’s alley, but proving that she makes a good mayor remains to be seen.

Meanwhile, Karla is no longer putting their millions-worth family abode up for sale.

She had actually planned it as early as two years ago for a number of good, practical reasons.

For so long now, Karla has practically been all by herself with her kids living separately.

Daniel stays in his own condo unit; her daughter Carmella will soon opt to have a unit of her own; her other kid Magui is studying abroad; his other son Carlito also wants to take a shot at independent life.

“Ganoon na yata ang mga kabataan ngayon,” Karla laments.

For this reason, Karla has seriously thought about looking for a house somewhere in the south, preferably at the posh Ayala Alabang subdivision in Muntinlupa, however for “social considerations”: “That’s where most of my friends are!”

Karla’s change of heart, however, has fueled rumors that she’s in a troubled financial state.

But she’s quick if not peeved to dispel this: “Kailangan ba naghihirap na pag nagbebenta ng ari-arian? Kelan pa naging requirement na kailangang malaman ng broker ang dahilan kung bakit ibinebenta ang isang property?”

Point taken.
