IN what appears to be a bizarre conclusion, Philippine National Police Chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil confirmed the “unreported killings” inside the raided offshore gaming operations facilities in Central Luzon.

According to Marbil, the accountability of police officers in command could reach the level of the regional police command, after he ordered the relief of provincial and municipal police chiefs in Tarlac and Pampanga.

“There were killings there that were not properly investigated. It’s not normal. Why were there foreigners who were killed there? They should have investigated that,” Marbil told reporters during a press briefing in Camp Crame.

In Pampanga, Colonel Levi Hope Basilio was sacked as provincial police chief, while Lieutenant Colonel Palmyra Guardaya was relieved as municipal police station commander in Porac.

Even before the Porac-based POGO hub was raided, Marbil sacked the entire police force of Bamban, Tarlac following the March 14 raid of the illegal POGO hub which operates inside a 10-hectare Baofu complex believed to be owned by Bamban Mayor Alice Guo who holds office adjacent the raided facility.

Interestingly, the country’s top cop insisted that the police who have been relieved are not POGO protectors.

“We have an integrity monitoring group checking on our people. What we are after is the inefficiency of our police. Why are these incidents not investigated and reported to the headquarters?” he said. (ANGEL F. JOSE)
