A DAY after former President Rodrigo Duterte threatened to press charges against cops for implementing what he described as illegal orders, the Philippine National Police ordered the relief of senior police officers for an ivestigation over the alleged irregularities surrounding the raid at the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) compound in Barangay Buhangin, Davao City.

During its regular press briefing, PNP Acting Chief PIO Col. Jean Fajardo said that the administrative relief of 12 police officers from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) and the Special Action Force (SAF) will enable the ptobe team to do its job without pressure.

Relieved were the directors of the PNP Directorate for Operations, of the Intelligence Group, and of Police Regional Office 11. They were reassigned to the Calabarzon regional police.

Fajardo told newsmen that the probe will look into possible lapses, abuse of power, and negligence of supervision.

The PNP meanwhile stood firm that the operation was legitimate, while appealing to KOJC Founder Pastor Apollo Quiboloy and others accused with him to face the charges.

“Ang PNP po ay open sa anumang investigation pero ang gusto rin natin [ay] maging bukas lalong-lalo na itong si Pastor Apollo Quiboloy na harapin ang kanilang kaso; wala po sa poder ng PNP ang panghuhusga. Mayroon tayong korte,” Fajardo averred.

The order specifies the immediate reassignment of key personnel from the Davao Region, reflecting ongoing administrative adjustments within the PNP

According to the Directorate for Personnel and Records Management (DPRM), the reassignment took effect on Thursday. (ANGEL F. JOSE)
