To avoid scam, verify first with PHLPost when expecting mail or parcel

The Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) warns the public against incidents of “Phishing Scams” done by unscrupulous individuals who unlawfully used the name of “PHLPost”, its logo and other details concerning the agency.

The public is advised to verify first the information with PHLPost to avoid “Phishing Scam” perpetuated through calls or messages from unidentified individuals or groups in relation to their parcel, or if they are currently expecting or tracing a parcel.

The PHLPost can be reach through its hotline number 8288-7678; E-mail: phlpostcares@phlpost.gov.ph; FB Page: htttp://facebook.com/PHLPost or the public can browsed additional information at PHLPost Official Website: www.phlpost.gov.ph.

Their (scammers) style of operation is to collect information from people such as their names, SSS/GSIS number, occupation and other personal data through electronic means such as texts/messages, emails, social media platforms among others.

Based on reports, these groups or individuals used the name of PHLPost in sending messages online or making phone calls to their target victims about a mail or parcel to be received, asking to confirm their address with a corresponding link provided or the package will be returned within 24 hours.

The link sent by scammers contains messages requiring victims to send sensitive data such as personal and financial information by pretending to be a legitimate company or individual via SMS, online messages, calls, among others.

PHLPost is coordinating with the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) to track down these unscrupulous individuals or groups who are behind the Phishing Scam.

Meanwhile, the public has been urged not to give personal and financial information when receiving messages. (ANTONIO)
