Filipino taekwondo star Jeus Gabriel Derick Yape made history at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, capturing one gold and one bronze medal across two completely different disciplines at the Toyohashi Gymnasium.

Yape delivered a precise, high-scoring routine of 9.0900 to secure the bronze medal, sharing third-place honors with Singapore behind powerhouses South Korea and Thailand on October 1.

In less than 24 hours , Yape shifted to high-octane digital combat. He went on an undefeated streak, culminating in a dominant 2-0 shutout (1120-0 total HP) against Vietnam in the finals.

Yape’s spectacular victory secures the 4th gold medal for the Philippines in the 2026 Asian Games, officially surpassing the country’s previous gold medal tally from Hangzhou. #
