A Palace briefing turned combative Wednesday as press officer Claire Castro lashed out at Senator Imee Marcos over a video circulating on the senator’s social media account that referred to an “ICC” in Malacañang later revealed as “Impaktang Clai.”
The clip, which showed Marcos speaking to an unidentified group, cut off before fully explaining the acronym.
Castro, however, seized on the phrase, saying: “So, kung sila ang nakapag-describe ng ganoong salita alam nila kung anong ibig sabihin nito, alam nila ang description ng salitang ‘impakta.’ It takes one to know one.”
Castro insisted she was not accustomed to ad hominem attacks, but argued that those offended by her campaign against disinformation were branding critics as “impakta” or witches.
She added that the “crown” for such a description belonged to Marcos and her circle.
“At huwag silang mag-alala ang korona ay nasa kanila – na kay Senator Imee at sa mga grupo nila at hindi natin kayang agawin ito mula sa kanila. Wala ako sa kalingkingan ni Senator Imee para sa kaniyang klaseng deskripsyon, sila ay nasa maximum level,” she stressed.
Earlier this month, Castro accused Marcos of sowing hatred and ignoring government efforts for farmers and fisherfolk, adding to a string of sharp public rebukes. # (RRN)
