Questions are expected to arise over whether Vice President Sara Duterte’s salary as a public official matches the contents of her bank accounts as impeachment proceedings against her move forward in the House Justice Committee.
“So kung yung income mo as vice president is this, wala kang publicized na mga negosyo, wala kang publicized na mga inheritance, pero yung laman ng mga bank account mo is billions or millions, the presumption is: ill-gotten yan,” said Atty. Amando Ligutan, lead counsel for the third impeachment complaint, in an interview on Sa Totoo Lang on One PH.
“So the moment makita ng taong bayan na milyon-milyon yung pera ng vice president, and then pag kwinenta natin yung sweldo niya, kung hindi ma-account, saan nanggaling yung perang yan? That makes it ill-gotten wealth,” he added.
Ligutan said he sees no obstacle to the committee subpoenaing Duterte’s bank records, even if objections are raised. “I don’t see any problem. But there will be definitely mag-o-object.”
He noted that witnesses and evidence are expected to be presented at the April 14 hearing, not at the initial session on Wednesday, March 25. (RRN)
