Court Rejects Estrada’s Bid to Gag Ex-Engineer Over Flood Project Allegations

The San Juan Regional Trial Court rejected Senator Jinggoy Estrada’s petition for a temporary restraining order (TRO) against Brice Hernandez, the former assistant district engineer of Bulacan’s first district.

The TRO aimed to prevent Hernandez from making allegations against Estrada regarding allegedly irregular flood control projects.

Atty. Ernest Levanza, Hernandez’s lawyer, confirmed to GMA News Online that the court found no “urgent necessity” to issue the TRO.

Although the initial request was denied, the case will proceed, with a hearing for the writ of preliminary injunction scheduled for November 12, 2025.

According to Estrada’s office, the senator respects the court’s decision and reminded the public of the sub judice rule, which prohibits public discussion while a case is ongoing.

Estrada maintained that clearing one’s name should be done in court, not through the media.

His camp added that he will continue to pursue legal action against anyone who violates his rights, spreads false information, or damages his reputation.

The senator reportedly believes that truth will prevail through a fair and just process.

It may be recalled that Hernandez linked Estrada to alleged anomalies in flood control projects during a hearing of the House Infrastructure Committee, where he claimed Estrada received a 30% “SOP” (standard operating procedure) from the projects.

Estrada strongly denied the accusation and filed a perjury complaint against Hernandez in October. (JCNE)
